Due to the cancellation of AONE’s June 12-14 Weekend in Vermont Tour, tour meisters Peter Walker and Frank Anigbo have arranged a shortened and simplified version of the Berkshires Sortie for Saturday, June 20. An AONE pop-up event!
We’ll meet between 9:30 and 10:30 at Baked, 4 Deerfield Avenue, in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts. Plan to arrive at opening time (9AM) if you want to partake of a full breakfast. We’ll shove off promptly at 11AM and make our way up into Vermont, where we will have lunch at Trail 87 in Dover. Afterwards, participants can drive east to I-91 or retrace the route back to Shelburne Falls and Massachusetts Route 2.
If you're coming on the tour, please contact Peter Walker before Thursday evening, June 18, at anderwalk@earthlink.net or 978-335-1673. If the day turns out to be a washout, we will try to run the route the following weekend.
Directions
Baked is at 4 Deerfield Avenue, Shelburne Falls, Mass. From the intersection of I-91 and Mass. Route 2 in Greenfield, Mass., take Route 2 westbound (the “Mohawk Trail”) for 8.4 miles, toward Shelburne, Buckland, Charlemont, and Williamstown. Just after the State Police barracks, the Exxon-Mobil gas station, and the Sweetheart Restaurant on the left (eastbound side of Route 2), take the left turn into Shelburne Falls, onto South Maple Street. Then turn left onto Bridge Street. Deerfield Avenue is the last left turn before the bridge across the Deerfield River. If you miss the left turn off Route 2, take the next left turn, which will also allow you to drive to the intersection of Bridge Street and Deerfield Avenue. Park at the very bottom end of Deerfield Avenue.
