The Magic of Monaco at Audrain Automobile Museum

By Frank Anigbo

Getting a bit run down by the freezing temperatures of winter in New England? Why not visit Monaco when Monaco was beautiful and interesting – as in filled with sculptural old cars?

Well, not exactly Monaco, but the Audrain Automobile Museum in Newport (RI) has done a brilliant job to put visitors in the mood with its current exhibition: The Magic of Monaco.

Being a car museum, the exhibit is all about cars and racing in Monaco. And for lovers of Alfa Romeos, the exhibit includes two great Alfas: a very original-looking Scuderia Ferrari 1933 2600 Monza, and a 1935 8C-35, both Grand Prix cars.

There is also an ex-Michael Schumacher 1997 F1 racer as well as a 1989 McLaren driven in Monaco by Alain Prost. A very tasty Maserati 250 F is a personal favorite. Click here for a full list of cars featured in the exhibit.

For the kids (and us grown-ups), the museum has two driving simulators that my children became addicted to. Who knew my 8-year-old daughter, Inez, is such a fast driver?

The Magic of Monaco at Audrain Automobile Museum runs from December 14, 2024 through March 9, 2025. The museum is open every day from 10am to 4pm.
