Map & Directions

Our first AONE overnight event in several years! AONE Director Greg Stidsen will be leading a two-day driving tour the weekend of July 28-29. He's driven the route extensively and reports that it is really fabulous. It's a lot of driving (about 300 miles) over beautifully paved B roads. No Interstate travel.

On Day 1 (Saturday), we'll meet at 1:00 PM (after lunch) at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (nee NHIS) in Louden, NH (see button above and directions below). From there, our tour will travel up through lake country and over the fabulous Kancamagus "Highway", with stops for viewing along the way. Much of the route is inside the National Forest. On Day 2, we'll circle Mount Washington and then ascend the largest mountain in the East on the famous Auto Road (optional) before lunch, and end in Tamworth at the new Club Motorsports facility (maybe). There'll be some non-automotive stops en route as well.

On Saturday night, Greg & Andrea Stidsen will host a barbecue at the Stidsen Chalet in Bartlett. Afterward, there are many good hotel/motel/inn options in the area (see Accommodations below) — make your own reservations. A couple of motels Greg looked at were already sold out, so it is not too soon to book! The chalet also has a nice flat yard for any hearty enough to pitch a tent.

So that Greg & Andrea can stock in supplies for the weekend, we'll need you to sign up with Greg by Thursday, July 26th at the latest (use the buttons above).

Late addition: If you want to arrive early on Saturday at NHMS, there is a newly opened museum just after the South Entrance and before the Main Entrance where we meet. It is called the Northeast Motorsports Museum, and it opens at 10AM and costs $10 admission. Funky collection of all kinds of racing vehicles from soapbox derby to Sam Posey's CanAM car. Lots of early stock cars, super modifieds and dragsters. Even some bikes. (Alas, no Alfas.)

Another late addition: Lunch on Sunday will be at the iconic Wildcat Tavern in Jackson!

The last time we did an overnighter, (the AONE Down-East Tour in 2007), it was extremely well received. Don't know why we haven't done it again! Well ... how about this month?Tiny Quadrifoglio
