Long-time AONE member Jonathan Kirshtein holds the
enviable position of Area Manager for the Northeast Region of Automobili
Lamborghini America, and is required at times to drive assorted
Lamborghini models under various street and track conditions. (Tough
job, but somebody’s got to do it.) Recently, he was in Italy for
"training", and got to drive something completely different (see photo
below). He files this report:
"This
is my friend’s dad’s car. They bought it five years ago from a mechanic
with a lien on it for 1100 euro. The car is original with 80km, and I
had to push the car down the street in Rimini to fire it, as the battery
was low. It was tiring, but it fired on one of its two cylinders —
pop-pop-pop! We drove it to the seaside from the center of town, where
it let out one big backfire (well, as big as a 500cc engine could
manage) and we laughed. Then we got passed by a Vespa and laughed even
harder!"
With Lamborghinis at one extreme and Cinquencentos
at the other, it’s easy to understand why Jonathan has found a home with
Alfa Romeos!
