Alfa Romeo Wins Lawn Tractor Championship

Vinci per noi!  Long-time AONE member Bob Simonds (shown with trophy above) completed a successful season of competition last year by winning the Tennessee Lawn Tractor Championship in Tracy City, Tennessee, driving his new 2008 Alfa Romeo GT (Grasso Tractori). Bob and his wife Pauline relocated early last year just 45 minutes west of Chattanooga, up on the Cumberland Plateau in Sequatchie. Having purchased a log home on 7.5 acres, it became very clear that he would need something to mow all those blades of grass. He considered John Deere, Toro, Craftsman, etc., none of which had any entertaining attributes, so he went searching the international marketplace and learned that Alfa Romeo was manufacturing a new lawn tractor for the European market.

"Wow! How can I get my hands on one? I knew I would need to contact someone with connections in Italy, so I gave Craig Momingstar a call. To my surprise, he told me that, in recent conversations with Sergio Marchione, FIAT Auto was looking for someone in the States to market and sell their new 2008 Alfa Romeo GT lawn tractor. Well, I was the first to board Rocky Top Airlines' biplane to Italy." After meeting in private with the corporate executives for nearly 15 minutes, the deal was struck. Bob now has acquired exclusive United States sales and distribution rights for the Alfa Romeo Grasso Tractori.

"Now to tell you a little about this special turf-devouring beast. I won't lead you to believe that it's powered by a V8 Maserati-designed engine; that would be a bunch of B.S. (Briggs and Stratton). It would be unfair of me to compose a husky yarn, y'all (Husqvarna). But this baby will do 0-15 mph in less than 54 seconds and at the same time mow around your house once!"

Below are a few pictures showing the aggressive lines of this cutting-edge vehicle. Notice the traditional Alfa grill and badge, along with the racing Quadrifoglio emblem on the side below the Alfa Romeo script. If you look closely, you can see the Italian racing stripes on the grass discharge chute and cross and serpent emblem in the center of the steering wheel.

You may special-order any color combination as long as it's red. For additional information regarding price and delivery, please contact Roberto Simonini at 1966alfa@gmail.com.Tiny Quadrifoglio
