Released in 1971, Le Mans is an action film directed by Lee H. Katzin based on the actual 24 Hours of Le Mans held in 1970. Today, the film is still popular among race fans as it is a relatively accurate depiction of the era, with lots of racing but very little dialogue. In fact, the first 38 minutes depicting the arrival of McQueen's character, Michael Delaney, and the pre-race build-up has no dialogue at all! And there's further good news! The Museum has purchased a new and larger screen and, once again, admission to the movie is free to all. There is a small charge for pizza and beer. Posters and Michael Keyser's Book, A French Kiss with Death, the story of how the movie was made, will also be on sale (details below). You can find more info on the event at www.motorsportsmarketingresources.com. Larz Anderson is at 15 Newton Street, Brookline, MA; if you need directions, visit www.larzanderson.org. The film begins at 7pm and runs 90 minutes. Our thanks go to Peter Bourassa of MMR for extending this generous invitation! Please let Peter know you're coming by contacting him at Peter@MotorsportsMarketingResources.com. And there is still a limited number of the 40"x14" posters below, entitled "Rock Around the Clock" depicting the start of Le Mans on June 13, 1970, signed by Michael Keyser and suitable for framing. They'll be available at the door on Movie Night at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum at $10 each, with all proceeds going to the Museum. Bring a friend and share the movie, pizza, and beer
with us on the 24th!
