What? Another party?  Hey, if we can’t drive our Alfas in the dead of winter, at least we can party! What we’re talking about here is our annual mid-winter AONE Pot Luck Dinner Party that will be held the evening of Saturday, February 7th, at the Josiah Smith Tavern in Weston, MA, the venue for many of our AONE affairs over the years. It’s a cozy, old, comfortable, wood-paneled, centrally-located location that’s perfect for our gathering — no other place will suffice!

As is our habit, the dinner will again be pot luck, since this always results in such a terrific feast. You Alfisti never fail to satisfy our gustatory sensibilities, with the array of delectable foodstuff that you bring each year! So if you make a special dish (or can talk your significant other into making one for you), bring it along to Weston! This is an Italian car club, so Italian food is generally a central theme, but it really doesn’t matter. Entrees, salads, breads, desserts — whatever gets your culinary juices flowing! There’s a kitchen available to warm things up.

Entertainment? Glad you asked! Remember the amazing accomplishments that your fellow members Brian Shorey, Kevin Redden, Mike Lawton, and others achieved last summer in campaigning their $500 Milanos in the 24 Hours of LeMons race weekend, which we reported in these pages? Well, that was just a taste! Our intrepid race team will be regaling us with a full-blown multimedia presentation on the epic saga, complete with photos from the start of the project early this year through race weekend, and with videos from the gritty fender-crunching racing and hilarious sideshow attractions. You really don’t want to miss this!

And we also want to remind you that … it’s a party! The club will be supplying soft drinks, but if you prefer something a tad heartier, feel free to bring your own. And don’t forget the door prizes! There will be lots of them, and you’re more than likely to go home with some sort of Alfa-oriented trinket or treasure!

The AONE Winter Party has become a perennial institution, and we often get 40 or 50 revelers, sometimes more. It makes for a great way to break up the winter, and gives us faith that Alfa driving season can’t be far off. Don’t miss this year’s celebration!

Directions to the Josiah Smith Tavern

From the East: Take Route 128 (I-95) to the Weston/Route 20 exit (Exit 26). Follow Route 20 west for 1.2 miles until you reach the first set of lights. Take a right onto School Street, and travel one block to the town center. Take a left, and the tavern is a white clapboard building on the left.

From the West: Take Route 20 east. One-half mile past the Weston Police Station, you will reach a set of lights. Take a left onto School Street, and travel one block to the town center. Take a left, and the tavern is a white clapboard building on the left.
