Tenth & Final Pasta Fazoom
Italian Car Cruise
Saturday & Sunday, September 27th & 28th |
Late-breaking news from Cal Crouch:
Appealing to the greed in you guys, this weekend I got Brad Penn to contribute a case of their 20/50 motor oil
for the post-race prize drawing. This is 100% Penn grade oil. It is also the
old Kendall GT1 green oil - the good stuff before the name was purchased by Valvoline and then others.
So another reason to get in the registration.
I have ordered T shirts, 18 L and 18
XL.
Half of each are already pre-sold, so act accordingly!
For you hesitant fence-sitters out
there, I just received contributions from Meguiars - they have been VERY
generous to the PFR this year. Sports Car Market donated two gift
subscriptions to SCM. I also have many T-shirts donated by Classic
Motorsports. Vicks and Color Plus donations are on their way too. So it
will be profitable to be at the post-rally prize drawing!
NOW FOR THE REMINDER! Any
registration postmarked after Sept 15 has to pay $35! NO EXCEPTIONS!
So save yourself the extra $10 and get out your registration! I have
received registrations for almost 20 cars so far - quite a few of the
regulars look like they just want to pay me extra money. In short, get
out your registration and bring along some new guys to run the route.
The GRAND FAZOOM awaits you.
I am also thinking of doing a PFR
retrospective during Sat night dinner. Hope you can keep your food down
with my dribble.
So get your car tip-top and get here!
First run in
1999, Pasta Fazoom is a low-key road event providing
Italian car owners with an opportunity to gather for some camaraderie and an
enjoyable cruise though the picturesque Central New York countryside. This
is not a concours event—it is a drivers’ outing. All Italian cars are
invited regardless of condition—faded paint, dents, and rust are embraced.
This year is the tenth and final running! And Italian Car Consortium (ICC)
founder and AONE member Cal Crouch has quite a weekend planned for us! On
Saturday afternoon, if there’s enough interest, there’ll be a trip to the
Norwich Car Museum. Then we’ll gather for a group drive to dinner Saturday
night. And then, of course, is the Sunday Pasta Fazoom Rally. There are
three different driving style flights: Turismo Veloce (Con Brio)—a very
spirited driving group—you won’t notice the scenery; Gran Turismo—the pace
combines spirit and scenery enjoyment; and Turismo—a nice, moderate pace so
the scenery is enjoyed. There is also a self-pacing alternative, if you can
read and follow rally directions. The rally departs at 9:45 am and waits for
no one! There’ll be a lunch stop at the Boathouse Restaurant on DeRuyter
Lake and the rally ends at around 3:30pm at the Jamesville County Beach Park
for pot luck snacks and cider, the Founder’s Choice Award, and prize
drawings. For this, the final year, there will also be commemorative Pasta
Fazoom cloisonné pins and embroidered shirts available.
So why not plan to make an entire weekend of it? It’s your last chance! The
Cruise ends early enough on Sunday for everyone to get home for a good
night’s sleep before Monday rolls around. Previous years’ participants
report having a lot of fun—it’s a great chance to tear up some terrific
empty roads with other Italian car aficionados! There’s more information on
the weekend and on overnight accommodations, plus an online registration
form, at
www.apollo19.com/pfr/, or you can reach Cal at 315-691-9718 or
calvincrouch@hotmail.com.
So head out west, where the roads are twisty and empty, and enjoy some Pasta
Fazoom!
