By Tom Lesko the threat of snow the night before kept the number of Alfas that showed up for the Spring Kickoff Meeting on March 16th down to only one (that would be Mark Ziburis, who owns nothing but Alfas!), but it sure didn’t keep the number of Alfisti down, with a fine showing of nineteen hungry brunchers. Once again, we kicked off the club’s season at the Papa Razzi Ristorante in Concord, MA, and found the place to be quite accommodating and the cuisine quite good. Meetingmaster Kevin Murphy selected the bistro as an appropriate venue for our first get-together of the year. We were given a nice room of our own, and even got them to turn down the music to facilitate conversation. While we waited for the trattoria’s chefs to deliver the main courses, we chatted and shared large plates of "family-style" Italian appetizers and beverages. We then held the "business" portion of the meeting, led by club President Tom Lesko and club Counsel/Sparkplug Kevin Murphy. Tom distributed copies of this year’s monthly event schedule to everyone present. (Take a look at the Events Calendar to get a feel for what’s ahead!) We then discussed the events that we have planned for the year, and several of the event organizers gave us brief rundowns on what to expect. Soon, though, the food arrived and we degenerated into our more customary gluttony and ribaldry. We enjoyed ourselves, dining and chatting
until mid-afternoon before breaking up and heading for home. Our thanks go
to Kevin Murphy, who set up the Kickoff Meeting and made the arrangements
with Papa Razzi. It was great to see all of the familiar faces as well as
some new ones—welcome! We hope to see a lot more of you at the events we
hold throughout the year! (Click on the thumbnails below for a larger view,
