"Il Giro Del Monadnock"
New Hampshire Road Tour

Saturday, October 6

it’s back for its fourth year! AONE members and Peterborough, NH, residents John Percival and Guilherme Bonatto have teamed up again to put together another fabulous motor tour in the Monadnock region of southern New Hampshire. Last year, we had 23 Alfas come along on the drive, up from 18 the year before! The participants all had a terrific time on a tour that included quiet back roads, a stop for lunch, a couple of Alfa photo ops, a little shopping, more back roads, some historic landmarks, country estates, a Velocissima cover page picture at the McDowell Dam, horse farms, and finally a stop for ice cream.

And this year Guilherme and John are planning an even better, expanded Giro! We’re talking more back-roads driving at the beginning of the day, and gathering in Peterborough for an afternoon segment going to Henniker, NH, for lunch at Daniel’s Restaurant & Pub. And that will be followed by more touring up in the Lake Sunapee region!

You have two options for meeting up with the rest of the gang:

1. If you live in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island, you can meet up with Dave & Vi Pratt and Guilherme at Papa Razzi Ristorante’s parking lot on Route 2 in Concord, MA just before our 9:00 am departure. Based on previous years’ trips up to Il Giro Del Monadnock via these back roads, they can testify that the drive north is a pleasant one indeed. Guilherme has mapped out a terrific route that will take us though beautiful neighborhoods, with views of the Monadnock chain, before arriving in Peterborough, where we’ll meet up with the others in Peterborough Plaza.

Directions: Papa Razzi’s is located on Route 2 westbound in Concord, MA (just before the Concord Rotary).

2. Or, if you live further north, you can go directly to Peterborough, enjoy some time downtown, and meet the southern contingent at around 11:30 am in the parking area of Peterborough Plaza for departure to Henniker at 12:00 noon. This is the same gathering spot as in previous years. While in Peterborough, you can go to the Depot Square area of downtown, a destination spot for the Monadnock region. Depot Square is framed by the confluence of two rivers in the center of Peterborough. It provides an attractive setting for the Sharon Art Gallery plus several fine restaurants and clothing boutiques.

Directions: From the east: Take NH Route 101 to Peterborough. Past the intersection with Route 123, Peterborough Plaza will be on your left, after the bridge. From the south: Take US Route 202 north past Jaffrey to Peterborough. Turn right at a traffic light onto 101 heading east. Peterborough Plaza will be on your right. From the west: Take Route 9 east, which becomes 101 east in Keene. Stay on 101 to Peterborough, straight through a set of lights (at intersection with 202 South). Peterborough Plaza will be on your right.

Departing from Peterborough Plaza at 12:00 noon, our lunch destination will be Daniel’s in Henniker, NH, and lunch is scheduled for 1:00 pm.

After lunch, we’ll head out to Lake Sunapee for the closing segment of this great drive. Finally, around 4:00 pm, we’ll arrive at our destination, where we can walk by the dockside or gather for some ice cream, shopping, or refreshments. Schedule a stay overnight somewhere nearby, if possible, or return home after a memorable day with Alfa Romeos and Alfisti in New Hampshire.

In order to keep things under control, our tourmasters are limiting the event to the first 30 cars to sign up—first come, first served! Important: We must give Daniel’s a head count, so we will need you to register with Guilherme by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 3rd, with the exact number of reservations. To register, contact Guilherme at 603-924-7608 (home), 603-860-9705 (cell), or via email at bellunotre@gmail.com. If you call and get a message, please leave your name and number so that Guilherme can return your call to confirm your entry. Include your phone number, your plan about where you will join (1 or 2 from above), and whether you are going to have lunch with us at Daniel’s. Do it now so you don’t end up on the waiting list! There will be a special menu for our group: Portabella Tuscan Tower, Fish and Chips, or Chicken Teriyaki.

So reserve Saturday, October 6th (rain date Sunday, the 7th), on your calendars and sign up pronto! There will be maps posted on the AONE web site sometime before the event. See you there!Tiny Quadrifoglio
