"Il Giro Del Monadnock"
New Hampshire Road Tour

Saturday, October 7

It's back for the third year! AONE members and Peterborough, NH residents John Percival and Guilherme Bonatto have teamed up again to put together another fabulous motor tour in the Monadnock region of southern New Hampshire. Last year, we had eighteen Alfas come along on the drive, up from a half dozen the year before! The participants all had a terrific time on a tour that included quiet back roads, a stop for lunch, a couple of Alfa photo ops, a little shopping, more back roads, some historic landmarks, country estates, the McDowell Dam, horse farms, and finally a stop for ice cream.

And this year Guilherme and John are planning an even better, expanded Giro! We’re talking more back-roads driving at the beginning of the day, and gathering at an Italian restaurant for an early dinner at the end! You’ll have three options for meeting up with the rest of the gang, in order of later to earlier:

1. The main gathering spot, as in previous years, will be the parking area of Peterborough Plaza, with a target meeting time of 11:30am.

2. Or meet up with Guilherme in Hollis, NH at 10:30am (exact location to be determined). Guilherme has mapped out a terrific route that will take us though beautiful neighborhoods, up and down Federal Hill into Milford, then via Savage Road / Isaac Frye Highway for a top-notch view of the Monadnock chain, and finally descending a very twisty and narrow road into Peterborough.

3. Or meet up with Dave & Vi Pratt at the Papa Razzi Ristorante on Route 2 in Concord, MA at 9:30. Based on previous years’ trips up to Il Giro Del Monadnock via some nice back roads, they can testify that the route they've used is a pleasant one indeed. This group will meet up with Guilherme in Hollis for the next leg.

When we all arrive in Peterborough, our group of Alfas will proceed to the Depot Square area of downtown Peterborough, a destination spot for the Monadnock region. Depot Square is framed by the confluence of two rivers in the center of Peterborough. It provides an attractive setting for the Sharon Art Gallery plus several fine restaurants and clothing boutiques. Our group can visit the Square and have lunch at our leisure. After lunch, we’ll head out on the afternoon tour and discover what John and Guilherme have cooked up for us this time!

And speaking of cooking, keep your lunch on the light side, since our final destination will be an Italian restaurant somewhere in the Peterborough/Keene area. Which one has yet to be decided, but we’ll convene for some late-afternoon Italian dining and post-Giro revelry before breaking up and heading home.

In order to keep things under control, our tourmasters are limiting the event to the first 25 cars to sign up—first come, first served! To register, contact Guilherme at 603-924-7608 (home), 603-860-9705 (cell), or via email at bbonatto@verizon.net. If you call and get a message, please leave your name and number so that Guilherme can return your call to confirm your entry. Do it now so you don’t end up on the waiting list!

So reserve Saturday, October 7th (rain date Sunday the 8th) on your calendars and sign up pronto! Detailed directions to the three starting points will be included in next month’s Velocissima. See you there!Tiny Quadrifoglio
