The Elm Bank Classic Motorcar Show is only in its second or third year but, as a significant New England automotive event, it’s picking up steam fast! Held every Father’s Day, it combines a family picnic with a large and growing car show, adding entertainment, food and automobilia vendors, and activities for the kids to make for an outing that’s fun for all. The grounds are worth the trip as well, Elm Bank being a huge, old estate alongside the Charles River in Wellesley that’s now the headquarters of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society, and the venue comprises many gardens, fields, woods, and classy old buildings.

This year, 300+ classic cars graced the scene on a sunny, summery June 18th. Unlike a lot of car shows, many classic European sports cars were represented in addition to the American stuff. These included a nice turnout of about a half dozen of our beloved Alfas. The Alfa model range was well-represented too—Giulietta Spider, Duetto, kamm-tail Spider, GTV6, and even a Junior Zagato!

Now that the elegant Castle Hill concours is no longer with us, the Elm Bank organizers have their eye on making this Classic Car Show into a suitable and significant replacement. The grounds are quite large and quite beautiful, and it’s centrally located for us New Englanders. This year’s event was very well attended, so the future’s looking bright. You can be sure that we’ll be telling you about it again next year, so start making your Father’s Day plans!Tiny Quadrifoglio
