Pot Luck Winter Dinner Party
Don’t let winter get you down—if you can’t hug your Alfa, you can at least hug an Alfista!
Our annual hedonistic AONE Winter Dinner Party will be held the evening of Saturday, January 28th. This year’s lollapalooza will again be held at the Josiah Smith Tavern in Weston, MA, the venue for countless AONE shindigs over the years. It’s a cozy, old, comfortable, wood-paneled, centrally-located venue that’s perfect for our gathering—everyone agrees that there’s no better possible place!Once again, the dinner will be pot luck, since the format seems to work so well. You Alfisti continue to outdo yourselves with the quality and diversity of the food you bring year after year! If you make a special dish (or can talk your significant other into making one for you), bring it along! This is an Italian car club, so Italian food is generally the focus, but it really doesn’t matter. Entrees, salads, breads, desserts—anything goes! There will be a kitchen available to warm things up.
Some months back, we’d announced that AONE’s Bruce Murray would be gracing us with a special presentation he’d put together on his participation in the running of the 2005 Mille Miglia. Unfortunately, Bruce has taken ill and probably won’t be sufficiently recovered by the time of our gathering. Get well soon, Bruce! So instead we’ll be running a presentation on the upcoming AROC national convention in Oklahoma (which sounds like fun!) and also a slide show of photos from last year’s active season of club events. In any case, the central reason for the party is … that it’s a party! The club will be supplying soft drinks, but if you prefer something a little more robust, feel free to bring your own. As always, there will be lots of door prizes, and you’re more than likely to go home with some sort of Alfa-oriented treasure!
We’ll be kicking things off at 6PM. Significant others are much more than welcome—they keep us in check and help redirect our conversations away from brake calipers and cold-start solenoids. Directions to the Josiah Smith Tavern
From the East: Take Route 128 (I-95) to the Weston/Route 20 exit (Exit 26). Follow Route 20 west for 1.2 miles until you reach the first set of lights. Take a right onto School Street, and travel one block to the town center. Take a left, and the tavern is a white clapboard building on the left.
From the West: Take Route 20 east. One-half mile past the Weston Police Station, you will reach a set of lights. Take a left onto School Street, and travel one block to the town center. Take a left, and the tavern is a white clapboard building on the left.
The AONE Winter Party has become a revered institution, and we’ve been getting over 50 revelers attending in recent years. It makes for a great break in the winter and reminds us that Alfa season is just around the corner. Don’t miss this year’s winter blow-out!
