Your Chance at Automotive Stardom

emmings Motor News this summer will introduce a new magazine, Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car, written for enthusiasts of pre- and post-war European and Japanese automobiles. The magazine will be produced to the same high standards as its sister publications Hemmings Classic Car and Hemmings Muscle Machines, with well-researched articles and some of the best automotive photography around. As Editor David LaChance says, "If it’s interesting, and hasn’t been written about, we want to include it in the magazine!"
Hemmings is looking for Alfa Romeos that are original or have been restored to factory original condition, and have not been featured in a U.S. magazine, to be considered for authoritative, full-color feature articles. They’re currently looking for outstanding examples of a Giulietta/Giulia Spider and Sprint, a GTV-6, a Junior Zagato 1300/1600, a GTV and a 1900 Ti. Please don’t feel limited by this short list—if you have an interesting car, or a car with an interesting story (one owner? Restored in a one-car garage without electricity?), they’d like to hear from you.
Here’s what owners can expect when Hemmings arrives to profile your car: They must be able to drive the car, both for action photography and driving impressions. Bits of stop-and-go and open-road driving are usually sufficient. The car must be detailed inside and out, including under the hood and inside the trunk. Any aftermarket accessories (coco floor mats, steering wheel covers) must be removed. If the car is a convertible, they must be able to raise and lower the top. It’s helpful if the owner can suggest some nearby locations for photo shoots, preferably with few distractions—the car is always the star—so simple, plain vistas are best. They never photograph cars on grass.
Hemmings is also always interested in finding subjects for two ongoing features: unmodified "daily drivers" for a regular feature called "Driveable Dreams," and recent restorations that might be candidates for a "Restoration Profile" feature.
