Glynn Motorsports, that is. Paul Glynn, proprietor of one of New England’s foremost Alfa-oriented repair and restoration shops, has announced that there will be some major changes taking place in his revered Rowley, MA organization.
As many of you may know, GM had been experiencing some
downsizing over the past several months. Paul cites the inactivity of a few of
his major clients as the primary reason for this, and it wasn’t possible to keep
a shop of his size staffed at the former levels, based on the amount of seasonal
work that was provided by his other customers. That, coupled with the death in
January of his father, who introduced Paul to European cars and racing in the
‘50s and supported him in his automotive pursuits, set the stage.
Out of the blue, Paul got a call from Paul Russell & Company, which was in need of a mechanic with Paul’s experience and talent to work on the magnificent cars that pass through that well-respected restoration facility. Paul was offered full-time employment, with such perquisites as a steady income and health insurance, the likes of which had been unknown to Mr. Glynn in several years. It was an offer he couldn’t refuse!
So, beginning in July, Paul will be working four days a week at Paul Russell & Company, performing mechanical repair and restoration mainly on classic Ferraris (an enviable avocation). This does leave a day or two a week free, and Paul’s intention is to keep his Rowley shop open. He’d like to find another automotive business to make use of some of the space; ideally, it would be Alfa-centric, of course. Paul’s desire is to continue to provide service to his current long-term customers, keeping in mind that his time will be limited by his new commitment. He also—finally—wants to restore some of his own Alfas!
That’s the scoop, folks. It goes without saying that we all join together in wishing Paul good fortune in his new venture, and we look forward to his continued presence in and importance to the New England Alfa Romeo community. And, yes—the AONE Spring Tech Session at GM goes on as planned!
