VSCCA Spring Sprints
at Lime Rock Park
April 1-2

The VSCCA season kicks off with the Spring Sprints, a low-key vintage racing event at one of the nation’s most scenic race tracks. The club prides itself on its emphasis on sportsmanship rather than race-winning, but “low-key” doesn’t really describe the on-track action. There are upwards of a hundred great old race cars slugging it out just like in days gone by. For more info, visit www.limerock.com and www.vscca.org. No crowds, easy parking, lots of great historic cars to admire up close and on the race track. It’s a fine way to spend a Friday and/or Saturday!Tiny Quadrifoglio

The April Monthly All-Member Meeting Heads South!
Date Change — Sunday, April 10

Please note the change of date! Originally scheduled for the third Sunday in April, the date of the April AONE Monthly Meeting has been changed to April 10th. This was done to move it away from Patriots Day weekend, when a lot of Massachusetts residents make alternative plans, and also to separate it in time from another of our April events, the Spring Tech Session.

The April confab will be held at 12:00 noon on Sunday, April 10th at the Memphis Roadhouse in South Attleboro, MA. This is a multiple-award-winning southern barbecue joint that is run by a real car guy (if not an Alfa guy), and they’re eagerly expecting us. For more info on their funky restaurant, visit the Memphis Roadhouse web site. The phone number is 508-761-5700.

A view of the crowd at last month's Monthly Meeting

We had a really fine turnout for our kickoff monthly meeting in March, and this time (with a little luck) the salt will be gone and we should be able to really fill the parking lot with Alfas! Here’s a chance for all you southerners among us (southern New Englanders, that is) to attend a club gathering without having to drive too far. We’ll be enjoying some real southern cooking (here, we’re not talking about southern New England). We’re looking forward to hobnobbing with a bunch of AONErs from Rhode Island, southeastern Mass, the Cape, and eastern Connecticut who don’t often get an opportunity join in so easily!

The idea of these meetings is that they be informal gatherings to which you can drive your Alfa, grab a little chow, talk over ideas for club activities, talk Alfas, eyeball Alfas, and generally have an enjoyable time with your Alfa buds on a regular, scheduled basis. It’ll be a nice habit to get into! The location of our meetings varies, in order to give everyone in the region a chance to attend some of the get-togethers without having to drive too far. Next month, we’ll be up north. If you can’t come to the club, the club will come to you!

Though it’s not required, we’re asking that you contact Kevin Murphy at kevin@kmurphyslaw.com or 508-879-1881 to let him know you’re coming so that we can get an approximate head count. We’ll see you at the Memphis Roadhouse!Tiny Quadrifoglio

Directions to the Memphis Roadhouse

From I-95 Southbound – Take Exit 3B, the Route 123 South Attleboro exit. Straight off the exit ramp, follow 123 to the intersection of Route 1 (after a CVS). Turn left onto Route 1 (Washington Street) heading south, go past a Dunkin Donuts and Meineke, and then turn right into the Memphis Roadhouse.

From I-495 – Take I-495 to I-95 South and follow the directions above.

From I-95 Northbound – Take Exit 2B, the Route 1A Attleboro exit. Ramp onto Route 1A North and follow it straight to the intersection of Route 123. Turn left onto 123 (CVS on left). Turn left immediately at the next intersection onto Route 1 (Washington Street) heading south, go past a Dunkin Donuts and Meineke, and then turn right into the Memphis Roadhouse.

From I-295 – Take the Emerald Square Mall Exit, Route 1. Travel straight off the exit onto Route 1 South. Follow Route 1 (Washington Street) straight for almost 2 miles. The Memphis Roadhouse will be on your right immediately after the intersection with Route 123, past a Dunkin Donuts and Meineke.

AONE Tech Session and Swap Meet
at Glynn Motorsports
Saturday, April 23

And the beat goes on! Glynn Motorsports will be hosting AONE’s first Tech Session and Swap Meet of the year on April 23rd beginning at 10AM. We always get a great turnout of Alfas and Alfisti at these events, so bring yours and whatever parts or Alfabilia you might have scattered about—we’ll also be holding a swap meet in the parking lot.

Paul holds an Alfa Q&A session "in the round" at a
previous AONE tech session

As with our recent Glynn Motorsports gatherings, rather than hold a tech session on a specific topic, we’ll all converge in the center of the shop and engage Paul in an unscripted Question and Answer session. Everyone finds this format enjoyable and educational and Paul likes it too, so we’ll be doing it this way again. We’ll all assemble in late morning and Paul will field questions from the group, so consider it your opportunity for Alfa enlightenment!

Glynn Motorsports is located at 120 Rear Haverhill Street, Rowley, MA 01909. Directions: From I-95 take Route 133 East toward Rowley. In three miles, go straight through a traffic light crossing Route 1. Proceed 1.5 mile and turn right at the sign for Glynn Motorsports. Proceed warily as you get close, since it’s easy miss, although we’ll try to have our Alfa banners out front. There is a large lot to park and show your parts, display your car, and wander around among the Alfas.

The doors will open as usual at 10AM—AONE will be supplying coffee and pastries. Later on, some gustatory digestibles befitting us connoisseurs of Italian macchina will be provided (donations to help defray the cost will be gratefully accepted). Come one, come all!!Tiny Quadrifoglio

AONE Hoods-Up Night
at the Ralph Lauren Exhibit
Thursday, April 28

As many of you know, "Speed, Style, and Beauty", an exhibit of some of the fabulous cars from the Ralph Lauren collection, is currently running at the Museum of Fine Arts, Huntington Avenue, Boston. Just once a month is "Hoods-Up Night", where we get to view the engines as well. The March date had been sold out, so AONE is arranging to meet there on Thursday, April 28 at 6PM.

The ticket cost for this event is $22 and, if we sign up as a group, the MFA will waive the usual extra $4 advance reservation fee. But tickets are going like hotcakes, so you'll need to sign up and pre-pay by Tuesday, April 12th. The MFA is holding a limited number of tickets for us. Contact Kevin Murphy at kevin@kmurphyslaw.com or 508-879-1881 if you want to get on the sign-up sheet. Then click here to pay via PayPal, or send a check for $22 per ticket to AONE, 300 Westfield Street, Dedham, MA 02026.

We are also trying to arrange free parking for this event—stay tuned. Again, you must sign up with Kevin and make your payment before April 12th! See you there!Tiny Quadrifoglio
