e’re all aware of the many reports that have come out of Southeast Asia concerning the devastating damage caused by water this winter. Here’s one with Alfa content. Performatek customer Bob Feingold grew up in Connecticut (the New England content) but has worked his whole life in the oil business, most of it in Southeast Asia. He has been in Singapore for many decades now, and it is his home; Connecticut is just a place he visits. Here’s his saga:
“The GTV went under in the December floods, but we had pulled out all the soft stuff—seats, carpets, etc.—and pulled the floor plugs and put it on jack stands. The water came in and ran out. We put the thing in the sun to dry out, put the soft stuff back in, changed the lubes, and off we went. Such is life—you adapt.
“The photos here show the thing put up on jack stands in preparation for the
floods.....got to get higher stands, as the submergence photo shows. Believe it
or not, all is fine except for the damned fuel gauge, but it did take a lot of
intense work to get it back. The end result is a cleaner and neater car, after
the best service it has had in 20 years. When was the last time you flushed out
and changed the lubes on your rear end and trans and engine? We did it
twice—$100 worth of synthetic oil through the engine (ouch!).”![]()
