Blasted Blizzard Alfa Photo Contest!

S

ince we weren’t willing to allow the Blizzard of ’05 to throw a blanket on our Alfa spirit, we launched the AONE Blasted Blizzard Alfa Photo Contest a couple of days after we dug out. We sent out an announcement to all of our online club members, with the only requirement being that the photo’s theme encompasses both Alfa Romeos and heavy, ridiculous snowfall.

Entries were submitted by attaching them to emailed replies to the announcement, with a deadline of February 1st. We also accepted entries that were posted to a thread on the AONE Forum at AlfaBB (scroll down to the AONE section). Judging was performed by our crack team of photo composition experts (a.k.a. the AONE Board of Directors). The winner, by a narrow margin over the photo to the right, was Steve Thomas, who will receive a rare and beautiful Giulietta 50th Anniversary poster provided by Alfa Romeo direct from Italy, plus a soon-to-be-rare (if not beautiful) Giulietta Giubilee poster and T-shirt. And it’s his photo that appears on the March 2005 title page (and the cover of the print version of Velocissima). Congrats, Steve—great shot!

The collage below comprises a collection of some of the other entries. As you can see, our judges had a tough job! (The two Alfas without much snow on them were taken in New Orleans—the first snow in over twenty years!)Tiny Quadrifoglio

[If you didn’t know about the contest, then you’re not on the AONE email list! You can easily rectify that by sending a quick note to webmaster@velocissima.com.—Ed.]
