I was saddened to hear that Guy Abbate died last week of a heart attack. Guy was a longtime member of AONE and the President of our club in the early 1980s. He was instrumental in planning the 1980 AROC Convention in Danvers, MA.

One of the club’s most active members, Guy, along with his wife Peg, put on dozens of concours, rallies, tours, autocrosses, and time trials. We all fondly remember tech sessions at his Mobil station in Westwood, MA. Here, we would get to put our Alfas on the lift with Fred DiMatteo standing by to help us get our cars ready for that next rally or autocross. Guy and Peg often hosted the club Christmas Party at their home.

He was truly a wonderful person and just fun to be around, always willing to help out and solve problems. Guy is survived by his wife Peggy, his sons Paul and Shaun, and several grand children. We will miss him!
