Rachusett Wevisited
Saturday, October 16
This one’s a little sketchy at press time, but remember that AONE Fall Tour to Wachusett Mountain and the nearby Wachusett Brewery we took back in October of 2000? Well, we’re going to do something like it again this October 16. Fall colors will surely abound for a ride to the top of the mountain, followed by a back-roads motor tour of uncertain length, with perhaps a stop for lunch somewhere, and ending at the Wachusett Brewery facility in Westminster, MA to watch beer made (well, OK, and maybe to see what it might taste like). So keep the date free and check your email inbox (click here to see the note on the subject) or this web page for the final details!

Fall Tech Session / Swap Meet at Glynn Motorsports
Saturday, October 23
The autumn equinox is behind us, so that means it must be almost time for another AONE Fall Tech Session at Glynn Motorsports! The date for this year’s happening will be Saturday, October 23rd. Paul Glynn and Company will again be our hosts for the event, which has truly become a club institution. So bring your Alfa and whatever parts or Alfabilia you might have lying around—we’ll also be having a swap meet in the parking lot.

At the last couple of Glynn gatherings, we’ve struck upon a tech session format that seems to work really well, and we’re going to go with it again. We’ll all gather in the shop at around 11:00 and Paul will field questions from the group in a sort of "in-the-round" type of forum. It’s a great chance to get some answers to your queries on an interactive basis from an Alfa expert, with a lot of other folks participating in order to learn and/or contribute.
Despite the fact that you probably tell your spouse that these events are all work and critical to the maintenance of your car, we all know better! The real reason we go is that it’s a helluva lot of fun! There are lots of various Alfas to admire in the parking lot, lots of interesting cars in Paul’s shop, and lots of fellow Alfa enthusiasts to compare notes with. The last couple of times, we’ve had over fifty people in attendance!
Glynn Motorsports is located at 120 Rear Haverhill Street, Rowley, MA 01909. Directions: From I-95 take Route 133 East toward Rowley, straight through a traffic light crossing Route 1, 1-2 miles and turn right at the sign for Glynn Motorsports. Proceed warily as you get close, since it’s easy to miss, although we’ll try to have our Alfa banners out front. There is a large lot in which to park, show your parts, and display your car.
The doors will open as usual at 10AM—AONE will be supplying coffee and pastries. Later, we’ll be providing a sumptuous luncheon to satisfy our gustatory desires (donations to help defray the cost will be gratefully accepted). Be there or be square!
Second Annual Indian Summer Sortie
Date change! It's Sunday, October 31
Back by popular demand, it's the AONE Indian Summer Sortie! AONE Director Peter Walker will be leading an Alfa driving tour back out on those wonderful roads of western Massachusetts. If you were on last year's Sortie or the Reservoir Ramble with us, you know what we're talking about!
We will meet at 11:00 AM at the Fillin' Station Diner in South Deerfield, the same place where we met up last year. Anyone who wants to can arrive early for breakfast/brunch with some fellow Alfisti (and a few truck drivers). We'll then set off at 11:30 on a two- or three-hour loop through back roads into the hills of Franklin County, through tiny country towns with names like Drury, Heath, Plainfield, Hawley, and Buckland. We'll end up at Peter's family house in Ashfield, where we'll enjoy the pot luck pass-around picnic lunch fare that we bring along. Peter will supply a grill and charcoal for anyone who would like to cook. There's a nice veranda there with a great view. After a leisurely dining experience and rehashing of the day's events, folks can head on back toward Boston (or from whence you otherwise came).
So pack up some victuals you can share with your friends (BYO
beverages; chinaware and cutlery [i.e. paper plates and plastic utensils] will be
provided) and
boogie on out to midwestern Massachusetts on the 31st.
