T

he gloomy weather forecasts we were getting as Italian Car Day got closer caused me to start thinking up some appropriate titles for this little write-up, such as Italian Car Wash, Italian Wash Day, etc. But such thoughts were unwarranted, since the day turned out to be terrific! It was cloudy, misty, and dank at the start, but the day improved steadily until we were all soon basking in the sun in our shirtsleeves!

The result was another record-setting turnout, in terms of both the number of cars and spectators! By midday, we counted nearly 60 Alfas in the field (and there were a lot more parked out on the street). In total, there were well over 200 Italian cars gathered for display, with a wide assortment of marques and models present. It’s always amazing that there are a lot of cars every year that we haven’t seen before. Italian Car Day is always a treat!

Among the marvelous automobili were several stunning Alfas. These included Giorio Nebbia’s TZ-2 and SSZ, a pre-war 6C1750 that blessed us by driving around the grounds so we could see and hear her, three (count ‘em!) SZs and a Giulietta racer brought in by KTR Motorsports, Rod Burdick’s beautiful Sprint Speciale, John Maker’s stunning Montreal, John Darack’s pristine ’58 Spider Veloce, a spiffy yellow Junior Z, and dozens of other various wonderful Alfas, all much appreciated and beloved.

Our club made its presence known beneath a banner-strewn 10’ x 20’ canopy, where people buzzed around constantly and we sold quite a few club shirts, coffee mugs, etc., signed on a few new members, and generally held court.

AONE Director and Tutto Italiano head Alfa judge Myron Barnett wishes to thank all of the AONE members who participated in this event. Special thanks go out to the judges who worked tirelessly for several hours and did a commendable, conscientious job.Tiny Quadrifoglio
