All-Member Annual Pot Luck Winter Dinner Party
Saturday, February 7th
The winter pilgrimage to Weston is upon us! All the requisite plans have been laid for our annual AONE Winter Dinner Party, to be held on Saturday, February 7th! This year’s bash will again be held at the Josiah Smith Tavern in Weston, MA, the site of countless AONE blowouts over the years. It’s a cozy, old, comfortable, wood-paneled, centrally located venue—perfect for our gathering—everyone agrees that there’s no better possible place!

Rather than mess with a good thing, and because all of the food that our members have brought to our parties in recent years has been sooooo good, it’s going to be pot luck once again! If you make a special dish (or can talk your significant other into making one for you), bring it along! This is an Italian car club, so Italian food is sort of assumed, but it really doesn’t matter. Entrees, salads, breads, desserts—anything goes! There will be a kitchen available to warm things up.
This year, because the number-one topic on everyone’s mind is our hosting of the upcoming AROC National Convention, this will also be our Winter Party theme. In lieu of an outside guest speaker, Brian Shorey will be MCing a presentation (with plenty of visuals) and discussion of the various aspects of putting on the convention. Each of the event chairmen (Time Trials, Autocross, Rally, Concours, Tour, Drag Racing, etc.) will give a short report on what’s been done and what needs to be done. Everybody will have plenty of chance to join the conversation. Should be pretty lively!

But, first and foremost, this is a party! The club will be supplying soft drinks, but if you prefer something a little more fortifying, feel free to bring your own. As always, there will be lots of great (and not-so-great) Alfa-oriented door prizes!
We’ll be kicking things off at 6PM. Significant others are much more than welcome—they’ll help keep our conversations away from carburetor jetting and giubo replacement. Dress is casual. As last year, we’ll be collecting a $5/person donation at the door to help defray the costs of renting the hall, providing the soft drinks, door prizes, procuring the audio-visual equipment, etc.
Although not required, we’re asking you to help in our planning by contacting event organizer Tom Lesko at 781-749-9132 or tmlesko@comcast.net. This will let us tell the Tavern how many people to expect and help us figure out what kind of food is needed. Questions? Contact Tom!
The AONE Winter Party has become a most enjoyable institution, with well over
50 revelers in attendance last year. It makes for a great break in the winter
and reminds us that Alfa season is just around the corner. Don’t miss this
once-a-year extravaganza!
