VSCCA Fall Finale at Lime Rock
October 17-18
Wind down the racing season in style! This is a very low-key vintage racing event, at one of the nation’s most scenic race tracks, on a weekend when there’s still much fall foliage to enjoy on the ride out and back. Although not nearly as large an event as the Labor Day extravaganza (see page 6), there are upwards of a hundred great old race cars slugging it out on the race track just like in days gone by. For more info, visit the VSCCA and Lime Rock web sites. No crowds, easy parking, lots of great historic cars to admire up close and on the race track. Be there!
The Reservoir Ramble
Saturday, October 25
OK—everything's set! AONE will be holding its Fall Foliage
Tour out west this year—western Massachusetts, that is.
AONE
member John Paradiso (the guy who was the enabler of the terrific [although
underutilized] AONE Online Forum) lives out that way, and has put
together a tour/rally along some of the area’s most scenic vias. The route will
include roads around the large and picturesque Quabbin Reservoir, with a pause
at a summit overlooking the water along the way.
After a spirited romp through the countryside, John has scoped out a lunch spot with an automotive theme, and he's laid out a course with some fine roads and scenery, plus some gimmicks to add a little interest. Click here to discuss this event with John and your other fellow members on the AONE Forum!
So here's the scoop! We're going to be meeting in the parking lot of the Orange Municipal Airport. (Hey—if driving an Alfa doesn't give you enough thrills, you can try jumping out of airplanes, as the people who frequent this location are inclined to do.) Here are the directions:
There are restroom facilities at the airport (as well as aviation fuel). The Ramble will be shoving off at 11AM sharp, so plan to get there a little early. Reservoir Ramble dash plaques will be presented to all drivers! So that we can get an approximate head count, please contact John at johnp@jparadiso.com or 413-221-5669 to let him know that you're coming! (The phone number is John's cell phone and can also be used on the day of the event in case of emergency.)
The
rain date for this event is the following day (Sunday, October 26th), same
time, same place. If you have any question about whether it's postponed until
Sunday, check back to this web page or contact John.
So come on out and have
some fun in your Alfa along some of Massachusetts’ nicer, less-trafficked roads!![]()
AONE Tech Session/Swap Meet
at Glynn Motorsports
Saturday, November 15
One of the questions we get asked most frequently is, “When is the next tech session at Glynn Motorsports?” Well, here’s your answer: “November 15th!” Paul Glynn and Company will again be the hosts for AONE’s Fall Tech Session and Swap Meet, a truly revered event.
So bring your Alfa and whatever parts or Alfabilia you might have lying around—we’ll be having a swap meet in the parking lot. The topic for the Tech Session hasn’t been determined as we go to press—well announce it in the next issue of Velocissima (along with whatever other info we can glom)—or if you’d like to suggest a topic, contact Brian Shorey at bshorey@cisco.com or 978-973-0879.

A panoramic shot taken at a recent Tech
Session / Swap Meet
Glynn Motorsports is located at 120 Rear Haverhill Street, Rowley, MA 01909. Directions: From I-95 take Route 133 East toward Rowley, straight through a traffic light crossing Route 1, 1-2 miles and turn right at the sign for Glynn Motorsports. Proceed warily as you get close, since it’s easy to miss, although we’ll try to have our Alfa banners out front. There is a large lot to park, show your parts, and display your car.
Despite the event’s name, you don’t have to have grease beneath your fingernails to enjoy one of these gatherings! There are lots of various Alfas to admire in the parking lot, always lots of interesting cars in Paul’s shop, and lots of fellow Alfa enthusiasts to compare notes with. You might even consider it a family affair!
So let’s gather as usual at 10AM—AONE will be supplying light food and drink.
Given that it’ll be the middle of November, Paul has promised to keep the
thermostat cranked up to 70 degrees. See you there!![]()
