Since this is being written during the six-day stretch of dismal weather over Memorial Day weekend, it’s hard to imagine back on the gorgeous day we had for the Spring Tech Session / Swap Meet held at Glynn Motorsports on May 10th. Even if you don’t come to these events, you should make a point of finding out when they are, so that you can be assured of great weather for any other outdoor activities that you might plan.

Anyway, the Glynn Motorsports parking lot quickly filled on Saturday morning, and we semi-counted well over 30 Alfisti in attendance. (You can’t just count the Alfas, since there are always quite a few of them in the parking lot at any given point in time to begin with.) The usual Alfa banter ensued, and people gathered and re-gathered in groups, admiring the bodies, interiors, and engines of our assembled macchina, and trading advice, stories, and spare parts among one another. There wasn’t an official tech session this time, but instead Paul Glynn and his staff (Michael Wrigley and Joe Phillips) made themselves available to share their knowledge (and more stories).

This time, our soiree was catered by Michael’s friend Niki Mouhtouris, who graced us with some gustatory delights, including grilled chicken sandwiches with pesto sauce, bowtie pasta and garden salads, and chocolate-dipped strawberries, all delicious. Not only that, but she benevolently did all this for the cost of materials (she did have Michael to help her do some of the assembly). Thanks, Niki—you can cater our events any ol’ time you want! Earlier, coffee, donuts, and bagels were served, thanks to Peter Walker’s and Tom Ducibella’s efforts.

Before the event started, the AONE Board of Directors held a meeting in the Glynn Motorsports Conference Center. In attendance were President Tom Lesko, Directors Brian Shorey, Jonathan Kirshtein, Steve Silverstein, Peter Walker, and Tom Ducibella, and Treasurer Dave Pratt. The topics discussed were mainly concerned with the planning of the events we’ll be holding throughout the remainder of the year—a full slate indeed!

There’s no reason for any of you to ever miss one of these affairs! There are always beautiful Alfas, good friends, fair weather, and even great food! Make it a point to attend the next one!  Tiny Quadrifoglio
