AONE Tech Session/Swap
Meet
at Glynn Motorsports
Saturday, May 10
The institution returns! The folks at Glynn Motorsports will again be the hosts for AONE’s Spring Tech Session and Swap Meet to be held on May 10th beginning at 10AM.
Bring your Alfa and whatever parts or Alfabilia you might have lying around—we’ll be having a swap meet in the parking lot. The topic for the Tech Session still hasn’t been determined at this point, but you can be sure it’ll be of interest.
This is always a terrific gathering, and you don’t have to be a gearhead to enjoy it! There are lots of various Alfas to admire in the parking lot, plenty of interesting cars in Paul’s shop, and lots of fellow Alfa enthusiasts to shoot the breeze with.
Glynn Motorsports is located at 120 Rear Haverhill Street, Rowley, MA 01909. Directions: From I-95 take Route 133 East toward Rowley, straight through a traffic light crossing Route 1, 1-2 miles and turn right at the sign for Glynn Motorsports. Proceed warily as you get close, since it’s easy to miss, although we’ll try to have our Alfa banners out front. There is a large lot to park, show your parts, and display your car.
The festivities begin at 10AM and AONE will be supplying
light food and drink! See you there!

Italian Car Day
Sunday, June 1
Sunday, June 1 is the date this
year for Italian Car Day at the Museum of Transportation at Lars
Anderson Park in Brookline, MA. That’s the weekend after Memorial Day, so mark
your calendars and don’t forget! There was a terrific showing of over 50 Alfas
last year, so you won’t want to miss it! Click here
to download an Acrobat PDF application form—make sure to send it in before May 16th to save $10 off the registration
fee!
We’re happy to report that AONE member Myron Barnett has stepped up to replace Jim Miga as Head Alfa Judge. Myron has been a Museum of Transportation member for many years. He has also owned and restored more Alfa Romeos than most of us have fingers and toes. He is the perfect guy to fill this position, and we wish him every success in it over the years to come. At the same time, we’d like to express our appreciation to Jim for doing such an excellent job over the years gone by. The baton has been passed!
Myron’s new responsibilities include locating the eight judges (including two backups), participating in MoT event planning meetings, working with the judges during the show to keep things moving, tallying final scores, announcing winners, and presenting trophies. And now it’s time to give him some support! The event still needs Alfa Romeo judges, and we’d like to draw them from among our AONE members. You don’t need previous concours judging experience, but knowledge of Alfas, or at least a given model range, is desirable. Or, if you don’t feel up to judging, you can volunteer to help with parking, registration, and other assistance on the day of the event. If you’d like to help the cause by volunteering to judge or otherwise pitch in, please contact Myron at AR164@aol.com, 617-840-9800 days, or 617-641-0976 evenings now so that he will have time to get the judging packets out to you. Thanks!
In any case, get out your Alfa, give her a little shine,
and bring her on over to Brookline. The hours are 10AM-2PM and there will food
available. There are always lots of beautiful Italian cars to admire—some
different ones every year to keep it exciting—in addition to our assorted Alfas.
For directions and more information, visit the Museum of Transportation web site
at www.mot.org. AONE will again
be asserting its presence with our canopy and banner, providing an Alfa focal
point, offering AONE goodies for sale, and signing up new members, so stop by
and say hello!

AONE
to sponsor the Second Annual Sunday, June 15
And us! In past years, British Cars of New Hampshire had sponsored an all-British car show, and all of the proceeds were donated to the New Hampshire High Hopes Foundation. But the event became so popular that they literally outgrew the venue (over 250 cars!) and had to move it elsewhere. So High Hopes asked AONE if we could fill the void at the Festival. This will be our second year of participation. The High Hopes Foundation is a New Hampshire volunteer organization that provides special wishes for critically ill and terminal children. Each year, High Hopes is able to fulfill some of these wishes with fund-raising events like the Festival. In the five years that the British club held their show, they caused more than $10,000 to be raised for the benefit of the High Hopes children. The Italian Car Show is held every Father’s Day from 9:00AM till 3:00PM. (Yes, that’s Father’s Day, but can you think of a better way to spend it?) Our cars will be displayed in a cordoned area for people to enjoy. While you and your family are there, you’ll be able to take in all of the many activities that will be going on at the Festival.Since this is just our second year, we’re going to keep it simple. It will be a display-only show – no judging – just show up and look pretty. In years to come, we expect to add lots of features, like judging in classes, raffles, door prizes, etc., and to solicit contributions from various corporations and individuals in the area. All Italian marques are invited to attend, and we are encouraging the participation of the other Italian car clubs throughout New England. Who knows – maybe in a few years we’ll outgrow the venue! Please consider joining in on this terrific event! You get to drive your Italian steed through the New Hampshire countryside on a Sunday in June, display it in front of thousands of admirers, enjoy a fun-filled family-oriented outing, and contribute to an exceedingly worthy cause. Your entry fee is really a donation toward the High Hopes efforts – the fee is $15 per car, but we ask you to consider donating more if it’s within your means. It’ll be a terrific day and it’s for a terrific cause. For more information about High Hopes Foundation and the Festival, visit the High Hopes web site. There are three ways to register:The first 100 registrants will receive dash plaques and perhaps some other goodies. You can get printable directions by clicking here. Please register before June 8th!Plan an outing in New Hampshire in your Alfa for Fathers Day! After all, its your day you get to choose! |
