A few photos by (and of) AONE Director Steve Silverstein taken at the VSCCA Spring Sprints held on April 11th and 12th at Lime Rock Park. Steve was driving a borrowed MGTD. (One of these days, he'll find himself a nice Alfa racer.) Here's his report:

Well, I survived the MG drive - it was quite an experience. The car has a bent front rim that added to the adventure. There was significant front-end shake at a certain speed, but I enjoyed driving the car.

I could run with the front of the grid, but during my main race it was black-flagged on the second lap due to somebody spinning out and getting stuck in the mud. I pulled into the pits, but somehow the rest of the field was simply regridded on the track. So I ended up at the back of the field. I did manage to work my way back up to the middle of the field, but there is isn't that much you can hope to do in eight laps (cut from 10).

I did have a great event with a Porsche Special. On the second-to-last lap, his timing went off and I pulled around him, only to be caught by the front runners - a BMW 328 and a supercharged Stutz.  Being right behind at the sprint to the finish was really neat.

By the way, I spun the MG on the second lap of the first practice. My young son Harry and I had been watching Skip Barber's "Going Faster" video the night before. Now, fast-forward 12 hours later..... I've spun out, the car is now really muddy, and I come off the track after the practice. Everyone pitted next to me is talking about my spin. Running down from the spectator's hill comes Harry and blurts out, "Dad, you must not have been paying attention when they told you in the video to SLOW DOWN FOR THE TURNS!". His timing was perfect...
