Club Tools and CDs
Missing In Action

This past summer, Andy Kress and I spent the better part of an afternoon identifying and re-cataloging all of the club tools and CDs. Then I spent the better part of the next day tagging and bagging all of the tools. The new system identifies each tool not only by part number but also by description. The tools now reside in a new large plastic box. Additionally, I have started a log of to whom each tool is loaned and when it is returned. Upon completing this work, I discovered that several tools and several CDs "turned up missing." I have been trying to track down the culprits, but have yet to receive any of the extremely long-overdue items.

Most of these tools are genuine Alfa Romeo tools and hence were very expensive to purchase. Many are no longer available, so replacement is not possible in those cases. At the most recent Board of Directors meeting, we discussed the policy of loaning club tools and resolved the following:
Tools and CDs will be loaned for two weeks only. You’ll be asked to leave your credit card number to cover the replacement cost of the tool, should it not be returned; no charge will appear on your card if it’s returned on time. The borrower pays for shipping both ways via cash or check, or the tools may be picked up from and returned to my garage in Hingham, MA.
