50,000 and Counting

by Dave Pratt

What are we counting? Hits on our web site, of course. Yup, take a look over on the left—our hit odometer has climbed past the 50,000 mark and is increasing at an accelerating rate. It won’t be too many more months before our odo has "gone around"!

Why so many hits? Well, Alfisti from all over the country have discovered that our Classified Ads page is more comprehensive, dynamic, and current than practically any other one out there. Several of the ads at any given time are placed by non-AONE members, at $10 apiece generating some revenue for our club. We’ve had ads for cars and parts from as far away as Minnesota and Texas!

But it’s also because more and more of you are discovering the many benefits of receiving Velocissima online instead of in the mail. Velocissima on the web site is in color; it’s not limited to a fixed number of pages (there’s always more online than we can fit in the print version); late-breaking news, changes, corrections, and updates are added instantaneously; back issues are always available; the contents are searchable; classified ads are updated continuously; and there’s an online members’ forum. If you like to read Velocissima off a piece of paper, you can download each issue in Adobe Acrobat format and print it on your black-and-white or color printer.

And, quite importantly, you free up club funds that can be used for other activities! Starting next month, the postage increase will make it even more costly for us to deliver Velocissima through the mail. In case you were wondering, none of the national AROC dues increase is channeled back to the local chapters to help with our expenses.

So, once again, we’re asking you to join our online-only program. Doing so is effectively the equivalent of donating over $17 a year to our club, the cost of printing and mailing the newsletter to you! Just send a quick email to webmaster@velocissima.com and we'll start putting your $17 to good use and letting you know whenever there’s something new here at www.velocissima.com. Thanks!   Tiny Quadrifoglio
