AONE Tech Session/Swap Meet
at Glynn Motorsports

Saturday, April 20

It’s the Spring Opener! Glynn Motorsports will be hosting AONE’s first Tech Session and Swap Meet of the year on April 20 beginning at 10AM. There are two potential topics on the agenda this time:

1) If one or more of you would like to get your Alfa tech inspected (there may be a nominal fee) for the Lime Rock track day the following weekend (see opposite page), Paul Glynn will do it and we’ll all be able to watch and learn! Failing that, then:

2) Paul will do a tech session on transaxles. We’ll see the insides of a limited slip diff, a non-LS diff, and we’ll see a set of lightened gears. Paul will discuss the basics and answer any questions you might have concerning transaxles (and Alfas in general).

So bring your Alfa (for a tech inspection or otherwise) and whatever parts or Alfabilia you might have lying around—we’ll also be holding a swap meet in the parking lot. And there are always lots of interesting cars around to ogle and discuss.

Glynn Motorsports is located at 120 Rear Haverhill Street, Rowley, MA 01909. Directions: From I-95 take Route 133 East toward Rowley, straight through a traffic light crossing Route 1, 1-2 miles and turn right at the sign for Glynn Motorsports. Proceed warily as you get close, since it’s easy to miss. There is a large lot to park and show your parts, display your car, and wander around among the Alfas.

The festivities begin at 10AM and AONE will be supplying light food and drink! See you there!  Tiny Quadrifoglio

Forza Italiana!
- at Lime Rock Park

Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27

Lime Rock

The Alfa Romeo Owners of Connecticut chapter is again sponsoring two days of driver’s school, open practice and timed laps at Lime Rock Park. Classroom instruction will be available to all drivers, and driving instructors will be available for individual in-car instruction, using helmet intercoms for communication with the driver. Experienced drivers will be given open practice sessions, with instructors available.

All cars must come to the track pre-tech inspected. Unchanged this year is the requirement for a Snell-90 or newer helmet; also, safety equipment (seat belts, roll-bar coverage) must be identical for driver and front passenger. Those of you with open cars will need to have an SCCA-legal roll bar that extends two inches above both driver’s and passenger’s helmets—insurance rules no longer allow cars with street roll bars onto the track.

The gate will open at 6:30; please arrive early. You must bring your car to the Timing Tower for a final tech prior to the start of the drivers’ meeting, which starts at 8:15 both days. If you miss it, you will not be allowed to run. The first group will be on the track at 9:00 sharp, the earliest that local ordinances allow. ARO-CT has the reputation of running the smoothest and safest track event around, and this year will be no different.

Cost is $295 for both days if you sign up before March 30, or $345 thereafter. Contact ARO-CT’s Mario Romagnoli for more information on this wonderful event (or if you’d like to volunteer to help). He can be reached at (914) 693-7426 evenings, email at MFRMD@aol.com, or fax anytime at (914) 693-1636. Detailed information and the application form can be found by downloading http://www.persmgmt.com/alfa/forza.ap.02.pdf.

So bring your car and run, or just show up to watch—it’s great fun. There’s a concession stand on the grounds, you can park right in the paddocks, and there are plenty of uncrowded, pastoral locations from which to watch the action. This is a private event, so bring your AROC membership card or you may not get in, even just to spectate! Tiny Quadrifoglio

Addendum: The Connecticut chapter has graciously invited any AONE members so inclined to attend their annual banquet luncheon in Wallingford, CT on Sunday, April 7 at 2PM. It’s a good chance to meet some new Alfa friends! Contact the Webmaster if you’re interested.

Italian Car Day
at the
Museum of Transportation

Sunday, June 2

Sunday, June 2 is the date this year for Italian Car Day at the Museum of Transportation at Lars Anderson Park in Brookline, MA. That’s the weekend after Memorial Day, so mark your calendars and don’t forget! There was a terrific showing of Alfas last year despite it being a rather misty day, so don’t miss it! We’ll be publishing more details and the entry form in the next issue of Velocissima.
