[This is the third in a series of profiles about the people and companies around New England who are out there as resources that we can draw upon to help keep our Alfas running and make them better. Ed.]
Glynn Motorsports is an Alfa shop that has been doing business long enough to be considered an institution, and is the largest Alfa facility in New England. The company was founded in 1970 to service Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Maserati and other high performance sports cars. Proprietor Paul Glynn also spent much of the early 70s working for the Gaston Andrey, Horst Kwech and Bert Everett Trans-Am Alfa teams.
Today, Alfas form the lions share of the shops business, although you will often see Jaguar, BMW, Mercedes, MG, Morgan, Austin Healey, Lotus, Ferrari, Triumph, Lancia, and other interesting marques on the premises at any given moment. In addition to providing service on all 1950s to current vehicles, Glynn Motorsports performs race preparation and performance modifications for its many customers. There is an in-house fabrication / machine shop and a wide assortment of factory tools and electronic testers. Theres also a large inventory of new and used parts available for purchase and/or for use in the shops maintenance and restoration work.

The Glynn Motorsports staff (consisting of Paul, Michael Wrigley, and Paul Dewing) has 57 years of combined Alfa experience. They have rebuilt hundreds of production and race engines and can fabricate new and replacement parts for all of your needs. To provide their customers with the best possible service, they moved from their original location in Salem a few years ago to a new building in Rowley, increasing their space to over 7500 square feet with room for four lifts and a larger parts inventory. The facility has been the site of many of AONEs popular Tech Session / Swap Meets.
Youre welcome to visit the shop anytime Monday-Friday 9-5 to meet with them and discuss your automotive needs. Theyre located at 120 Haverhill Street, Rowley, MA 01969. You can visit their web site at www.glynnmotorsports.com and reach them by regular mail, email at veloce@glynnmotorsports.com, by phone at 978-948-6000, or by fax at 978-948-2191. When traveling by automobile from the Boston area or south of the city, go north on Route I-95 to Route 133 (Exit 54A) to Rowley. They are located on the south side of Route 133 one mile East of Route 1 (behind General Products and Gear). Theyre also accessible by commuter rail: Board the Newburyport train to the Rowley depot. They will gladly meet you and/or drop you off at the depot.
Whether its a full race prep, an engine rebuild, a
restoration, a tune-up, or an oil change, Glynn Motorsports is a premier Alfa shop you can
