Sunday, July 15
Deadline to register July 7!
OK, heres something we havent done
in a while! The date is set as July 15th for a
"fun rallye" down on the Massachusetts South Shore in which weve all been
invited to participate by the (drum roll, please) Shelby Dodge Club! AONE and SDC member
Peter Marino and his wife Carole will set up the rallye with directional instructions and
questions about points of interest. The standing of each rallye team will be based on
Total Time, Total Distance, and Number of Questions answered correctly. So itll be a
very loose TSD rallye, with the fun of a "stop and see" touring event!
Last year, there was a small turnout from the SDC, since they were not familiar with a road rallye (but boy, can they drag race and autocross!) and thought it was a strict TSD rallye. This year, with the addition of AONE, there should be a good turnout. Again, we have to stress that this is a FUN rallyeits not like a SCCA Road Rally.
The
Rallye route will go through Weymouth, Hingham, Cohassett, Norwell, Scituate and Hanover.
It will take about two hours to complete. The day will go something like this: Rallye,
Cookout at Peter and Caroles place, and Prize Awards (and they may add a one other
event, perhaps a gymkhana!). Plan on an 11AM start. The entry fee is a mere $10 per car,
which will pay for food and prizes.
This is a real family event, so not just the car guys can come and
have fun. Important: There is a cutoff date to enter of July 7th! Sign up for the
event by emailing Peter at Alfa02189@peoplepc.com
or give him a call at 781-335-3202youll be told where to send the entry fee.

A day at the races! August 1-5 are the dates for this years annual New Hampshire Vintage Celebration, a weekend of Vintage Sports Car Racing at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon. The celebration runs from Wednesday through Sundayhere is the schedule:
Vintage racing on the oval on Wednesday & Thursday
On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, vintage racing sports cars and motorcycles take to the road circuit.
Sunday features the Harts Turkey Farm Restaurant Open Vehicle Show and the Elegance Car Show
Your AONE club will set up a canopy in the infield with our banner on it so that you can find us (it is a big place). This year, were gonna fire up a BBQ grill and have free food and drinks available for club members and guests.
This
is a great opportunity to see Alfas and many other vintage sports cars and motorcycles
perform as they were intended (and then some!). There may be three or four AONE members
racing, so come cheer them on! Bring a chair if you like and stroll through the infield
amongst the beautiful vintage cars and bikes.
So get an early start Saturday, drive up to Louden, buy your infield tickets ($20 for the whole weekend), and look for our Alfa banners in the pit/infield area! Consider finding a place to flop Saturday night and taking in the concours and more racing on Sunday! For more info, check out the NHIS web site, or contact Tom Lesko at 781-749-9132 or tmlesko@mediaone.net. And be sure to check this web site and the next issue of Velocissima for late-breaking news!
