Buy That New Alfa Youve Been Craving NOW!
October 13, 2000 - US consumers will soon have the opportunity to buy new Alfa Romeo Spider, GTV, and 166 models through the efforts of Autodelta, a firm operating as a small-volume manufacturer in the state of Illinios.
Autodelta plans to bring in 800 cars per year, to be badged as Autodeltas and sold through the top 10 former Alfa Romeo dealers in the US, according to Todd Wilkins of West Suburban Auto Group in Maywood, Illinois. The cars will be offered with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty which will be provided through the same firm that supplies Alfa Romeos European warranty, Wilkins said. Pricing has not been finalized but the target is to price these vehicles slightly lower than their European price point, according to Wilkins.
The cars, which will have their badges, interiors, and lighting systems modified to US standards by Alfa Romeo at the factory, will all be 3.0L V6 models. Wilkins said that West Suburban has been allocated around 70 cars , and that they have been told to expect the first cars in November with production reaching full force by December, although delays may be likely.
