Rising tin-top team JS Motorsport will mount a three-car assault on the National Saloon Championship next year with the new Alfa Romeo 147. The outfit, which is also planning a two-car campaign with the Italian firm’s latest hatchback in the British Touring Car Championship, will use cars built by reigning Italian Super Touring champions Nordauto.

The team will be the second British squad to use the marque in Britain. NSC team Gary Ayles Racing has run a pair of cars built by reigning Italian Super Production champion Bigazzi this year. It is also planning a two-pronged NSC and BTCC campaign.

JS Motorsport has raced a trio of ex-Nordauto Group N 156s in the Alfa Romeo Owners’ Club and Auto Italia series this year. The team will run a car for AROC (Europe) racer Danny Wright in the NSC round at Silverstone on August 20 to gain more experience. It will continue to run four cars in the AROC as part of a graduation scheme.

JS Motorsport Commercial Director Owen Lees said: "It’s a three-tiered approach we feel is important. With the progress we have made in 2000, it was time to take it on to the next level. This gives us an ideal base to build on for 2001." Tiny Quadrifoglio
