Ain’t We Got Fun!

It’s early August, which puts us just about midway through Alfa driving season, which is pretty much the clock that I go by. There’s nothing like just being able to hop in my Spider, throw the top back, and go about my business. Which often times means driving nowhere in particular.

Many thanks go out to AONE member John Basel for suggesting and then organizing the last-minute gathering we held at the Fruitlands Museum on July 20. It was a gorgeous night and a great excuse to be out driving our Alfas on a Thursday evening. The setting was beautiful, the music entertaining, and it’s always great to meet up with fellow Alfisti, including some new members this time! Wish more of you had been able to come!

One of the things I love about our marque is the diversity of the cars that Alfa Romeo has produced over the years. And each one has its many attractions! Just at the Fruitlands event, the cars ranged in age from John Basel’s 1960 Giulietta to Phil Knutrud’s 1994 164LS. In between were GTVs, kamm-tail Spiders, GTV6s, and a Montreal. AONE members also own 1900s, 2600s, Milanos, Duettos — all terrific and distinct automobiles. It’s great seeing all these wonderful, varied cars gathered together, as they were at Fruitlands and Italian Car Day! (Ever been to a Corvette show?)

The diversity applies to our interests as well, and we have events lined up for all of our tastes. Like vintage racing? Come up to Loudon on August 5. Like concours events? Come up to Castle Hill on September 24. Like tours? Come out to Mount Wachusett on October 14. Can’t decide? No problem — come to them all! Check out the Events page and mark your calendars.
