Italian Car Day

The weather threatened all day long but, fortunately for Italian car lovers, threaten was all it did. Everything stayed dry as Italian Car Day at the Museum of Transportation on May 21 was another resounding success.

This year, AONE made its presence felt with a distinctive 10’x20’ canopy (thanks, Tom Lesko!), replete with our colorful banners, that served as a hospitality and gathering area. It was manned (most of the time) by some of our members, and we sold several of our collectible coffee mugs and umbrellas. We were prepared to sell lots of our umbrellas, should we have been lucky enough to have it start raining hard. (If you missed out, click here to go to The Club Store.) Most importantly, around 30 AROC membership application forms flew out the "door" to help swell our already growing ranks.

There was a terrific turnout of Alfas, as we Alfisti proved once again that we’re not afraid of a little meteorological adversity, which can’t be said for some of the other marques, whose numbers were thinned in comparison with some previous fair-weather years. (Can you say "garage queen"?) Drive ’em, guys and gals, drive ’em!

But Italian Car Day is, after all, a concours, and it’s the day above all others that we make our cars shine and glisten. This year, Alfas were judged in five classes, and the results are shown below. Special thanks to all of the judges, who cheerfuly work so hard. Without them this event would not take place. The judges were: Tom Lesko, Andy Kress, Jonathan Kirshtein, Frank Maldari, Myron Barnett, and Steve Silverstein.   Congratulations to all of the winners and thanks to you all for displaying your marvelous automobiles!
