We Must Be Doing Something Right

On February 29, the AONE Board of Directors held a meeting to plan our club’s events and activities for the year 2000’s season (and to wolf down a few pizzas, of course). In attendance were President Tom Lesko, Directors Nick Fonte, Jonathan Kirshtein, Jim Miga, Brian Shorey, Steve Silverstein, and Treasurer Dave Pratt.

The primary items discussed related to our schedule of events for the season. As you can see, the schedule is beginning to fill out nicely! We start off with our first Tech Session of the season on April 15, hosted this time by Brian Shorey. Then the go-fast fans get to strut their stuff (or watch others do so) at Lime Rock on May 12 and 13. The very next weekend is Italian Car Day at the Museum of Transportation on May 21. There’s something for everybody, with more events following close behind!

Also discussed was the procurement of more club promotional items to add to our Club Store. The latest one will be announced next month!

The Treasurer reported that the club’s finances are on an even keel, with no net change to the club’s bank balance over the past year. A balanced budget! Your government could learn a few things from AONE.

It’s no surprise that our club’s membership had been dropping slowly over the past several years, to a low of 195 members a year ago. But we’re delighted to report that we’ve GAINED 20 members over the last year! Not bad for a car club whose marque hasn’t even been sold in the US for the past six years! (Click here for some information on that topic.)

It’s heartening for our Directors — and for all of us — to see our numbers increase, because our membership is really the bottom line. Hey — we must be doing something right ...
