The Bride Wore Nomex
It was a beautiful day at Lime Rock, with pleasant temperatures and sunshine on October 22, the first day of the Vintage Sports Car Club of Americas Fall Finale.
The bride, Caryl Stratton, and her matron of honor, Ms. Susan Dixon (of Alfas Unlimited), arrived at the starting line in Ms. Strattons 1957 Giulietta Spider.
Skip Persson, the groom, drove up to the line in his 1959 Giulietta Sprint with the minister, Mr. John Master (unfortunately, a Turner driver).
Bride and groom were dressed in matching racing suits
created by VAS Enterprises of Floral Park, Long Island. The best man, Ed Hyman, Senior
Photographer for VSCCA and for Victory Lane magazine, was also attired in race costume as,
indeed, were the entire wedding party.
After the exchange of vows and rings, the happy couple stepped across the starting line, got into the 57 Spider, and took a victory lap of the Lime Rock circuit, Mr. Persson driving (natch), while Ms. Persson held the green starters flag.
Following the reception, Ms. Dixon hosted a reception with triple-tiered wedding cake in the Alfas Unlimited paddock area. Nonalcoholic bubbly was served. The newlyweds went back to racing after the reception.
Mr. and Ms. Persson will shortly relocate their home from Stratford to Woodbury, CT where they will live happily ever after (and be 45 minutes closer to Lime Rock Park).
