Vintage Festival at Lime Rock Park, CT
September 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th - Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday

Vintage Racing Fans! (You are a Vintage Racing fan, aren’t you?) - Our friends in the Connecticut AROC chapter (ARO-CT) have invited us to join them on Labor Day Weekend to watch the vintage races at Lime Rock. What they are planning is informal: the Fiat club has an Italian car corral up on the hill by the skid pad (left after you cross the bridge into the infield). ARO-CT plans to take part of the corral and set up a small gathering area. The club will most likely provide some beverages and snacks. There are always several vintage racers from the club for us to cheer on as a group. At a minimum, there will be four CT chapter members running at the event.

If you’re just going for the day, we recommend Saturday. There’s no racing on Sunday, and Monday (despite the final races) means competing with the returning Labor Day traffic. So . . . see you Saturday?

AONE's Plans Change for the Castle Hill Concours d'Elegance
September 19th - Sunday - Ipswich, MA

After the September issue of Velocissima went to press, it was learned that the hours of the Castle Hill Concours are 9AM-3PM this year instead of 10AM-4PM as in previous years.  This would have required a much earlier start of the AONE caravan in order to get to Castle Hill before the road started getting clogged, so we have CANCELED THE CARAVAN.

BUT NEVER FEAR!  Instead, AONE will be setting up a club picnic spot on the grounds where members can meet.  Snacks and refreshments will be supplied by the club, and we can gather ‘round, compare notes, talk Alfas, and recover from the overdose of automotive splendor to which we’ll be subjected.   Just look for the big Alfa Romeo banner and come join the fun!

The Vintage Sports Car Club of America is putting on this, the Fifth Annual Castle Hill Concours d’Elegance, from 9AM to 3PM. The event is cosponsored by Classic Automobile Register magazine and is a fund raiser for The Trustees of Reservations, a Massachusetts member-supported nonprofit conservation organization which owns and cares for Castle Hill. There’s more info at the Castle Hill web site. Thanks to Stefan Roeser and Angeljean Chiaramida for hustling to get this event organized!

Directions: Route I-95/Route 128 North to Exit 20A (Route 1A North). Follow 1A for 8 miles to Ipswich. Right on Route 133 East, 1.5 miles to Northgate Road. Left on Northgate, .5 miles to Argilla Road. Right on Argilla, 2.3 miles to gate and parking.

The Castle Hill Concours is an elegant event in an elegant setting that attracts lots of elegant cars. It’ll be fun to attend along with all of your elegant Alfa buddies!  See you there!

Private AONE Tour of Nashoba Valley Winery
October 2nd - Saturday

Nashoba Logohot.gif (1980 bytes) It’s not too late to sign up! Now that our minimum number of participants has been met, you still have plenty of time to sign up for our tour! Simply send the registration form in the August issue of Velocissima or print out the registration form and sent it along with $5.00 per person to: Kevin Murphy, 24 William J. Heights, Framingham, MA 01702. Questions?  Contact Kevin at 508-879-1881 or xpertcool@aol.com.

This is a Private AONE Tour of Nashoba Valley Winery in Bolton, Massachusetts. Not into wine? They brew beer there, too! The group should arrive at the Winery between 10:30 and 10:45 AM. We’ll have our own tour guide, and will be permitted to sample the various, uh, products. The Winery has a nice restaurant for lunch that we are welcome to try (not included in the registration fee, of course), and grounds to just explore.

Touring in: Meet us in the parking lot of the Papa-Razzi Restaurant on Rt. 2 Westbound in Concord (just before the rotary) by 10AM. We shove off at 10 for an Alfa caravan to the Winery, which is about 10 miles.

Or just meet us at the Winery which is located just off Rt. 117 at 100 Wattaquadoc Hill Road. Take I-495 to Rt. 117 West. Proceed approximately 0.8 mile to Wattaquadoc Hill Road on your left. Go straight as possible at the fork and the Winery is on the left. Enter the driveway marked "Restaurant" and park in the gravel lot immediately on your left.

Flash! Several members have mentioned the idea of doing a little more Alfa touring after the event. So over lunch we’ll all put our heads together, decide where to go, and then go do it! A little spontaneity to add some spice!

Fall Sports Car Celebration and Lapping Day
November 10th - Wednesday

Bill Prout will be holding his fourth annual fall driving event at Lime Rock Park. The event is open to all skill levels and types of cars (muffled event), and is one of the most fun events of the season. The event is limited to seventy cars plus instructors. One of the best groups of teachers in the Northeast! Event organizer Bill Prout started his racing career at Lime Rock in 1965 with his ’64 Alfa Sprint and he’s still driving. He went on to become the chief instructor of the Skip Barber Racing School as well as enjoying a professional driving career in Formula Atlantic, Sports Cars, and GT cars. No school, private or club, has better instruction, more track time and a more positive atmosphere than this one. The school is filled on a first-come basis. For more information or an application, call Bill at 860-767-0091.
