Cast Your Ballot Now!

The nominations are in!  Now it’s your turn!

It’s up to you to decide who’ll be behind the wheel of your club chapter by casting your ballot for the club officers. Last month, a Call For Nominations solicited submissions from all members interested in taking on a leadership role in AONE. And you can vote online  - right here and now!

Following, you will find a list of the nominees (in Alfabetical order).  The candidates have taken the time to submit short biographies to help you make your decision.  You can scan the list below to read each candidate's biography, which is presented along with a phone number and/or email address in case you’d like to contact any of them to help make your choices.  Select one name for President, one for Treasurer, and up to eight names for Directors. For each office, there is a space for a write-in candidate if you choose.

Don’t even think about trying to stuff the ballot box - our club’s small enough that it’s easy to tell!

Ballots must be submitted by June 1, 1999. Results will be tabulated and reported in the July issue of Velocissima, and the newly elected officers will assume their duties as of July 1.

This election is important - it’ll determine how your club is led for the next two years! So don’t put it off - submit your ballot now!

For President

Tom Lesko, Hingham, MA - 781-749-9132 - tmlesko@mediaone.net

As many of you know, I have been acting as the club’s newsletter editor since Fred DiMatteo left several years ago. In addition to that job, I have acted as the club’s contact person, organizer and "glue" to hold the club together in it’s period of transition. I have tried to get new members involved and build a new "core" of interested Alfa owners to recharge the club once again. It looks like things are heading in the right direction now. In an effort to continue the work that has been successful in rebuilding the club, I am running for the office of President. Dave Pratt is doing a wonderful job of putting the newsletter together and I will continue to assist him in that job as well. For the record, I have been an Alfa owner since 1970 when I bought my one and only Alfa, my beloved ’65 Giulia Spider Veloce. I have been a club member for 10 years or so and a Director for most of those 10 years. I have organized many club events including the recent winter event at Vinnie Testa’s in Natick (With he help of Andy Kress and Jonathan Kirshtein) As President I will continue to do the things that I have been doing since Fred left and continue to rebuild the AONE club into one of the best in the country.

For Treasurer

Dave Pratt, Dedham, MA - 781-320-8208 - dave@dvpratt.com

I’ve owned Alfas since 1977, which have included two ’74 Spiders, two ’74 GTVs, an ’84 GTV6 and a ’91 164L. I’m currently helping to publish Velocissima by doing the page layout and a bit of the writing. I’ve also put together the new AONE Web Site and serve as its Webmaster. I’d like to see our club get active again by organizing and running various types of competitive, technical and social events. As Treasurer, I’ll be using a computerized accounting system and will be able to provide meaningful reports on our club’s finances. But mainly, I just can’t imagine life without at least one Alfa waiting for me in the garage.

For Director

Bill Anderson, S. Berwick, ME - 207-748-1709 - bill@mozart.sr.unh.edu

I’m a longtime Alfa owner and member of AONE, serving as a Director for many years. I own several Alfas, including a Calloway GTV6. I’m the guy that gets Velocissima to you from the print shop to your mailbox (well, OK, my son helps a little). My plan is to organize at least one AONE Road Rallye each year, and I already have courses prepared for the first couple of events. Thanks for your support.

Tom Ducibella, Beverly, MA - 978-921-0125 - Nanduce@worldnet.att.net

I stand on my past record of sponsoring and hosting events, writing articles, and will continue to do so (I planned and brought the [real] food for the most recent event at Glynn Motorsports in April of this year). I have written many articles for the newsletter and have had many events at my home. I urge all directors to sponsor an event or the equivalent in terms of participation, and urge members to come out for at least one event of their choice each year and send one opinion to Velocissima at least once a year.

Nick Fonte, Sudbury, MA - 978-443-5538 - NFonte@flowform.com

I’ve been part of AONE since I was 16.  I have owned four Alfas, all of them Alfetta Sedans, two being part cars and two drivers. Now I have one Sport Sedan that I have done a good amount of modifications to. Now that I am out of School and working, I want to put more time and effort into the club. I am interested in setting up track events, and auto-x events. Either way, the club needs to be rebuilt and I am willing to help out.

Phil Fulchino, Framingham, MA - 508-877-9141 - Phil_Fulchino@ne.3com.com

I work for 3Com in the R&D area. I have lived in Framingham for over 10 years. I first became interested in Alfas in college as an owner of a (used) Duetto spider, which I thoroughly enjoyed driving year around for over 5 years. Though never having lost interest in the marque, it wasn’t until about 4 years ago that I owned an Alfa again (now as my 3-season, 2nd car). I currently have a 1974 GTV that I have used and want to continue to use not only for daily driving but also autocross. I would like to help the club become more vibrant with additional activities for us to "exercise" and show off our Alfas. In addition, I would like to help ensure that these activities as much as possible encourage family participation as my wife and two children also "share" my Alfa hobby with me.

Jonathan Kirshtein, Framingham, MA - 508-877-6801 - JKirshtein@aol.com

Since 1984, I have been a member of AONE and AROC. I have owned 25+ Alfas and presently own 4. I am intimately familiar with most models and understand the performance aspect of them, both on and off the track. For roughly 10 years I have been a director and have been responsible for arranging autocrosses, handling advertising and the club tools, assisting in setting up meetings, and judging Alfas at Larz Anderson. In short, I have been active in many duties pertinent to the function of the club and its members. I would like to continue as a director, putting my many capabilities to the test, and perpetuate AONE as well as our love of the Alfa Romeo automobile. Thank You.

Frank Maldari, Andover, MA - 978-475-2846 - fmaldari@opcolab.com

As an Alfa Owner and member since 1981, I have benefited from a strong local club. I have been encouraged by the recent interests in the club to restore my 86 GTV6 once black and now Alfa red. As director, I hope to support the effort to enhance our local club by helping to organize events and by providing help to new members.

Paul Meredith, Merrimack, NH - 603-424-3858 - Paul.Meredith@digital.com

An old member returning to the fold after a multi-year hiatus from Alfa’s. I’ve owned many Alfa’s (from a 6C2500 to my current 164L). My first Alfa was a ’64 Giulia spider purchased in 1972 and went down hill from there. I joined the AROC in 75 and sold my last Alfa in 1993. I currently work for Compaq as a Program manager in Nashua, NH.

Jim Miga, Winchester, MA - 781-729-7567 - jimmymiga@aol.com

I have been a member of AROC and AONE since 1972 and have owned an Alfa Duetto since 1971. I have always been active with AONE in some way, since 1972. I was the AONE treasurer for 7 years, produced the newsletter for 4 years, and was the Founder of Italian Car Day (originally an AONE event) in 1977. I would be privileged to continue the tradition.

Stefan Roeser, Marblehead, MA -781-631-8232 -  stefan@devereuxgroup.com

I’ve been an Alfa enthusiast since I was a child and saw a GTV 2000 being rebuilt during one summer on my paper route. Finally, after seventeen years, I got my GTV last summer. But during the interim, I developed a long-standing passion for Alfa Romeo. If elected director, I plan to help make AONE a club, which appeals to the different passions of Alfa Romeo owners - from racing enthusiasts to those who just like owning and driving their Alfas for pleasure. I believe a club is only as strong as its members and as a member of AONE I’m committed to making the club enjoyable for all types of Alfa owners. Let’s make that happen. Vote for Stefan Roeser.

Brian Shorey, Boxborough, MA - 978-266-2795 - bshorey@cisco.com

Certified Alfa Romeo lunatic. I have been involved with Alfas and AONE for almost as long as I’ve been driving. I own a number of Alfas that range from daily summer drivers to time trialers to restoration projects. I’m currently nearing completion on a shrine to the marque that I’ve been building in the form of a garage. Known for saving many California gross polluters from the crusher. If elected I’ll focus on technical sessions and competition events. If not elected I’ll focus on technical sessions and competition events.

Steve Silverstein, Marlborough, MA - 508-303-3391 - Milano164@aol.com

Owned Alfas since 92. Currently own a 1992 164L and 1989 Milano Verde.  I have been active in the Texas Chapter and acted as judge at the South Fork Concours Italiano for the last couple of years. I am still active with the Tennessee Chapter and when they host the National Convention in the near future I hope to help with the planning/organization. In New England I would like to see more gatherings which draw in members who aren’t on the technical edge but really enjoy their Alfas. One of the best aspects of the owner’s club is the support and experience that can be passed amongst the members.
