AHHHHHHHH, 1969 — Woodstock, men on the moon . . . and Alfa Romeo producing the sweet 1750cc variation of the twin cam. On this, the kickoff tour for the 2023 driving season, the majority of the cars were 1969 1750 Alfas — two Spiders and a GTV — joined by a 1973 2000 GTV and 1987 Spider for a cool morning ride in southwestern New Hampshire.

We gathered on the east side of Milford and departed for our scenic ride west on Route 101. We then headed down along the Souhegan River via Route 31 to the village of Greenville, where we crossed a waterfall and headed west on Route 123 to New Ipswich. There, we picked up Route 124 that brought us to Jaffrey, at the foot of Mount Monadnock. We turned north in the center of town and headed up Route 137 to Dublin to get back on Route 101.

Our mid-tour rest stop was in Peterborough. From there, we took back roads to Hancock, where we stopped for a photo op at Norway Pond. We went due east from there, crossing the scenic covered bridge over the Contoocook River, and then headed north in Greenfield to Francestown. It was downhill from there, through Mont Vernon and Amherst to reach our lunch destination in Merrimack at The Common Man restaurant in the historic Matthew Thornton homestead.
