Potpourri 1

INSTEAD OF OUR FEBRUARY AONE POTLUCK PARTY that we'd normally be holding about now, we're offering a little online Alfa-centric Potpourri Piece to perhaps help get us through these especially oppressive winter doldrums. They're snippets on various topics that members have been contributing over the past few weeks — if you have other items to share, please send them along to webmaster@velocissima.com.

First, a message from one of AONE's crack European correspondents, Stefan Gavell. He writes: "Here in Paris, we are also waiting for vaccines but, in the meantime, the Traversée de Paris (which Peter Walker wrote about last year) went on as usual, proving that you just can't keep classic car enthusiasts confined. I understand that the turnout was lower than usual, not just due to Covid but also rainy weather. Nevertheless, there was plenty to look at, including a nice array of Alfas, shown in the photos in front of the Hôtel des Invalides, which is also the location of Napoleon's tomb."

Next, a heads-up from one of AONE's crack Canadian correspondents, Dan Nicholes. Dan came across an interesting article and video about the red-hot new Giulia GTA and GTAm entitled Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA: Watch How A Super Sedan Is Reborn. (You can tell that it's recent since everyone in it is masked.) The video is over 24 minutes long, and both it and the accompanying article are most informative. (The piece was created by one Giuliano Daniele. The car is a Giulia and it was contributed by a Daniel, so it seems suspicious but Dan swears that it's just a coincidence.)

And then, one of AONE's crack local correspondents, AONE Director and Giulia Quadrifoglio owner Tom Ducibella, suggested an entertaining and informative Fifth Gear video comparing the Quad to a competitive Mercedes model entitled Mercedes AMG C63 vs. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio - the COMPLETE challenge. Both cars are extremely impressive, but we don't have to tell you which they (and we) think the winner is!

Tom Ducibella is also the owner of a '69 "roundtail" Spider and says that past and present Spider owners are apt to enjoy these three videos:

The 10 Rarest Alfa Romeo Spider Variants Of All Time

The Alfa Romeo Spider "Duetto"

Instant Classic: 1990 - 93 Alfa Romeo Spider

Finally, another of our crack domestic correspondents, Fred Dalrymple, came across a very nice video called Alfa Romeo: what's all the fuss about? that sums things up quite nicely.
